Director Nuveen Real Estate
St James Quarter is one of the largest retail-led regeneration projects currently underway in the UK. The £1 billion redevelopment, led by Nuveen Real Estate, started on site in 2016 and will ultimately see the former 1970s shopping centre replaced with 850,000 sq ft of prime retail and leisure space, Scotland’s first ever W Hotel – a 244-bed W Edinburgh, and 152 new luxury apartments by Native Land, transforming the Scottish capital’s city centre.
Redwood helped launch the first phase of the development on June 24th 2021 with the opening of the stunning new shopping galleria housing over 80 new brands including & Other Stories, Zara, Mango, Bershka, H&M, Next and many more, as well as an enticing mix of restaurant and bars anchored by a 16,000 sq ft Bonnie & Wild food hall. The next phases of the scheme, including the completion of the hotel and residential elements are due to complete at the end of 2023.
Redwood is responsible for devising, managing and reporting on the communications strategy for the development. By having a ‘bird’s eye view’ of the project, we liaise closely with Nuveen Real Estate, the wider project team and key stakeholders to ensure that the various communications work-streams are integrated and aligned with wider development activity and milestones.
Using our in-depth knowledge of the real estate market and previous experience of major mixed-use developments, our role includes providing marketing and media relations support to the investment and leasing teams, managing the design and development of all brand and marketing collateral and leading public relations activity. We also oversee the ongoing stakeholder engagement programme.
