Redwood Consulting was appointed by Shearer Property Group (SPG) to run a public consultation on its plans to transform the Coventry city centre in the most significant regeneration that the city has seen for decades. Working in partnership with Coventry City Council, SPG are setting out to deliver a transformational mixed-used destination that will revitalise Coventry City Centre and submit a planning application in the late summer.
The proposals are designed to bring life back into the centre of the city, delivering beautiful public spaces, areas for community events and a dynamic new mix of shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels, leisure options, entertainment and places to live. The aim is to create a socially and commercially successful district in which the people of Coventry can come together and enjoy spending time.
Understanding and respecting the rich cultural diversity of Coventry, Redwood designed a digital consultation that aimed to reach all the layers of Coventry society and galvanise an enthusiasm for this transformational project. Resident associations, market-traders, tenants, universities, cultural and civic organisations are amongst the key stakeholder groups being contacted. Webinars are being arranged as part of the consultation, with members of the design team present to talk through the project.
Working closely with Council’s leadership, the regeneration of Coventry will be an essential part of the economic rebuild following the COVID-19 crisis, and the digital approach set out by Redwood was an essential part.
