EnviroMall was the first national environmental scheme specifically for shopping centres to minimise their impact on the environment through working with retailers, the community and shoppers.
It was launched by The Mall in partnership with leading environmental organisations – The Carbon Trust, Envirowise, Upstream, the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme and The World Land Trust.
Redwood was instrumental in the formation of these partnerships and worked closely with The Mall’s board and operational department to establish the accreditation scheme. This included setting up the EnviroMall Trust, community initiatives, research partnerships and the scoring criteria.
All 20 Malls adopted an Environmental Management System (EMS) and worked towards tailored Impact Improvement Plans.
As well as overseeing the CSR elements of EnviroMall, Redwood was also responsible for driving its profile within the industry. A strong community awareness campaign was tied to EnviroMall, where a million community pledges were sought from local shoppers.
