Following the successful initial redevelopment of Elliott’s Field Shopping Park in Rugby, Redwood led the pre-application consultation for an extension to the shopping park in 2016. The transformation of the vacant neighbouring site represents a further £20 million investment on top of the £35 million invested in the first phase. The extension received overwhelming support from planning committee members, and the strong backing of ward members, senior Councillors and the Member of Parliament for Rugby. Shoppers and local residents alike welcomed the extension.
With construction now underway, Redwood is supporting Hammerson in making sure that local residents and stakeholders are informed about the work and the scheme. A programme of regular written updates and visits means that local representatives know how construction is progressing, with communications support for leasing driving awareness of the exciting new stores coming to the area.
With the Elliott’s Field Shopping Park extension targeting the highest BREEAM rating, Outstanding, we are working to support Hammerson to make sure this exemplar development receives the notice it deserves. The park will be completely carbon-neutral, with the regulated energy usage of the occupiers entirely offset by sustainable initiatives. School visits and a community awareness programme will mean it can help to inspire the next generation, and underline the importance of truly sustainable development in line with Hammerson’s Net Positive strategy of putting back more than is taken out in terms of water, carbon, resource use and socio-economic factors.
