Delivering virtual community and stakeholder consultation
Redwood has worked with Sovereign Centros to deliver a digital consultation programme for its proposals for the redevelopment of the Leisure World site and surrounding industrial land in the heart of Southampton City Centre. The project is the largest regeneration the city has seen for two decades and will be central to region’s post COVID-19 economic revival.
The new proposals will deliver a modern mixed-use complex including a cinema, casino and hotels, in addition to new homes, retail space, leisure uses and offices. The plans for the site, which sits within the Mayflower Quarter, will also introduce improved public realm, creating new linkages from the city centre to its historic waterfront.
Having commenced our activity with a thorough stakeholder mapping activity, our strategy has since had to evolve to ensure we can consult in a virtual way – following the outbreak of COVID-19. A website has been developed to provide an opportunity to review and comment on the new Leisure World plans, with members of Sovereign Centros and its design team also being available to discuss the development in more detail via webinars. A range of ‘get in touch’ options has also been set out the ensure all can feed in, even those who may not have access to the internet via post and telephone.
As this is also only an outline application, detailed information is not yet available. We have therefore worked hand in glove with the architects’ team to develop an animation and a series of interactive infographics to bring the plans to life.
