Retirement Villages Group’s integrated retirement community in the heart of Tunbridge Wells is becoming a reality with news of the appointment of McAleer & Rushe as main contractor last month. Redwood has worked alongside RVG throughout their Tunbridge Wells journey , from achieving planning permission in 2022 and now delivering construction communications, securing coverage for RVG in the local media and ensuring the local community is engaged and informed.

The new community will form part of Retirement Villages’ celebrated Thrive Living Collection – potentially becoming just the third location for this refreshing new concept of later living communities. Its developments are situated intentionally at the heart of town centres, providing the older generation with the option to enjoy in-town living, being part of a wider urban community, with access to town centre facilities while having the peace of mind of support and an immediate neighbourhood of like-minded people with whom to share a connected, active and sociable lifestyle.

Redwood has created ‘Community Newsletters’ for the local community, sharing the best places to visit in Tunbridge Wells, highlighting local businesses and providing construction updates to the site’s neighbours. We also manage Thrive Living in Tunbridge Wells’ social media and recently hosted a successful cinema ticket giveaway, as part of a continuing partnership with the neighbouring Trinity Theatre and Arts Hub. We loved hearing about which older person the entrants would bring as their ideal cinema ‘plus one’ and was glad to see a huge boost in engagement.

The newest social media campaign has seen the public invited to help name the new Thrive community. The votes are still coming in, encouraged by the offer of a prize for one entrant – a hamper created from the products of local and independent retail businesses across the town who are collaborating with us to promote the poll.
