As well as the referendum on electoral reform, 5th May saw local elections around the UK as well as Scottish and Welsh Assembly elections.
The elections saw mixed results for Labour and the expected bloody nose for Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats.
The surprise of the night was the Conservative Party’s success. Instead of losing seats as national polling would suggest, they picked up councillors across the country.

In many town halls around the country the next few weeks will be consumed with new councillors and old political enemies trying to do deals form administrations.
