Redwood Consulting’s client NewRiver REIT plc (‘NewRiver’) recently received planning permission for its £60 million regeneration of Templars Square shopping centre in Cowley, which received planning permission from Oxford City Council in July. Redwood supported NewRiver in its communications throughout the pre-application period and planning process.
NewRiver, the owner of the shopping centre and site, will deliver a major mixed-use regeneration designed to revitalise the heart of Cowley and improve the retail and leisure experience for shoppers and the wider local community.
The proposals will preserve the much-loved existing Templars Square shops, while bringing forward a range of significant improvements to the area. These include the addition of a hotel; new restaurant units for leading national operators; new housing; a dramatically improved streetscape and pedestrian routes; upgraded and modernised car parking; and new feature entrances.
Redwood Consulting shaped and delivered a proactive communications programme for the proposals, including running a responsive press office for all enquiries regarding the proposals, and engaging with key stakeholders and media in the lead up to Planning Committee. Redwood secured wide ranging coverage on both the submission and planning approval across key local broadcast and print media.
