Redwood client, Hunter Real Estate Managers (“Hunter”)’s plans for the £7 million transformation of The Spires Shopping Centre were approved last week by Barnet Council’s Planning Committee.

The scheme includes a new unit for a nationwide fashion brand, restaurants and an improved public space. In addition a new anchor store will be created to accommodate an unnamed major international fashion brand, to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Hunter acquired The Spires Shopping Centre, High Barnet in July 2015 with shoppers and local residents consulted on the new proposals at a Public Exhibition organised by Redwood in December 2015.

The prime, 90,000 sq ft scheme, which is anchored by Waitrose, includes 37 units let to a mix of retail and leisure occupiers. Tenants include New Look, Body Shop, Waterstones, Carluccio’s and Costa. The Spires is the principle high street shopping centre in Barnet – one of London’s largest and fastest growing Boroughs.

Redwood continues to provide Hunter with ongoing communication and PR support for the project and at a corporate level.
