Redwood Consulting recently supported Capital & Regional in the preparation and submission of its planning application for a £13 million reconfiguration of The Marlowes Shopping Centre in Hemel Hempstead.

The exciting plans include a new nine-screen cinema, a wide range of new family-friendly restaurants, new retailers and a renovated interior to create a community focal point are part of the exciting plans. The Marlowes includes 100 shops within over 360,000 square feet of retail accommodation, and attracts 6.5 million visitors annually.

The proposals mark the beginning of a period of change within Hemel. Capital & Regional is progressing its vision for Hemel town centre, with The Marlowes set to become the primary retail and leisure area within the town. The company purchased the shopping centre in 2016 and has since invested an additional £18.3 million to consolidate its ownership in the town centre and to enable delivery of its long-term plans for Hemel.

Redwood provided communications support focused on providing a thorough and transparent public exhibition process, engaging with the local community and capturing opinion. It is expected that Dacorum Borough Council will make a decision on the proposals before the end of the year.

Redwood has worked with Capital & Regional on a number of pre-submission planning applications and continues to provide ongoing communication and PR support for other projects across the UK.
