11th October 2012 saw the property industry unite for the annual LandAid Day and Redwood was at the forefront of fundraising efforts! Our resident ‘Redwood Runners’ Patrick Baxter and Angus Adamson followed in the ‘footsteps of kings’ to complete the arduous Salisbury to Winchester cross country marathon on 7th October. A huge well done to them both – one of whom is still hobbling today!
On the day itself the Redwood Rangers were back in force for the treasure hunt, where not even torrential rain was enough to stop play. The whole business also contributed to the tasty ‘Great Redwood Bake Off’ with all of our delicious home baked goods sold to hungry office workers in Victoria.
LandAid’s annual for the fun at the fair themed event seeks to raise £100,000 to support projects that help young and disadvantaged people in the UK. Last year saw companies across the industry fundraising for LandAid – highlights included bungee jumps, a mini marathon, a hostage ransom as well as many successful cake sales, pub quizzes and dress down days. This year it is anticipated that this will only be bigger and better.
LandAid Day comes at an exciting time for the charity following the launch of its 2011-2012 impact report earlier last month. The report revealed the biggest increase in income from the property industry to date, with a 39 per cent increase from £1.03 million in the previous year to £1.43 million in 2011/12. The increase is enabling LandAid to commit £1 million this year. These impressive demonstrations of the property industry’s increasing social responsibility are testament to its strong commitment to achieving social outcomes.
It’s not too late to get involved, please visit the LandAid website for more information.
